Pam  started out as Program Director Deane Parkhurst's secretary before he moved her to traffic and continuity when she showed a flair for writing and the ability to keep track of 62 WHEN's  increasing commercial load.  She went on to work at Meredith's home office in Des Moines after she became engaged to a medical student who was living there at the time
