Anthony "Tony" J. Bombardo Jr., 78 of Mexico, NY passed away on October 27th at the VA Hospital. Born on September 12th, 1941 to the late Anthony and Margaret Bombardo. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis. Tony was one of 62 WHEN radio's most recognized air personalities throughout the late 70's and 80's. He started his broadcast career with WHEN in 1977 as "Captain Scott King", flying the station's plane and relaying traffic information to thousands of listeners daily during the important morning and afternoon commutes. After leaving WHEN, Tony began broadcasting traffic reports, under his own name and was heard on numerous local stations including 93Q, Oldies 92 and News Channel 9. He retired in 2010 after having spent 33 years serving Syracuse and CNY listeners. He is survived by his twin brother, Frank J. (Nancy) Bombardo; sister, Angela Martino; nephews, Mark, Frank, John; nieces, Kimberly and Andrea and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours will take place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse on Friday, November 1st from 4-7pm. Funeral Service will be held at New Comer on Saturday, November 2nd at 10am.
