Robert "Bob" Carolin

Robert E. (Bob) Carolin, 80, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Van Duyn Nursing Home. Bob went to Eastwood High School, and then joined the Navy where he was introduced to electronics. Bob proudly served for 4 years in the Navy on the Destroyer USS Norris in the ships radio communications center. He worked at General Electric as an electronics technician and then found his love of radio broadcasting while working as an overnight DJ at a small radio station. From there he went to the all night DJ position at WFBL and his quick wit made him very popular with his listeners. Bob then joined WHEN radio as a radio personality as well as program director and then he was promoted to vice president and general manager of WHEN and WRRB radio. He was especially proud of the community involvement of the station as well as the legacy of its award winning news division. Bob was also an account executive with Park Outdoor Advertising, Verizon and Cumulus. Bob enjoyed golfing, SU sports and his backyard pool. Survivors include his wife of 38 years Carol Carolin; sons, Peter and Andrew; step-children, Douglas (Karen) Wicks and Christine Dano; grandchildren, Alexander, Douglas, and Kyle; sister, Patricia (Jim) Krick; brother-in-law, Francis King, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a service to follow at 6:30 p.m. at FARONE & SON Inc. Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse. Burial will be private.
